The first open outcry futures market dates back as far as 1688 with the Dojima rice markets near Osaka, Japan. “Rock” oil was accidentally discovered in Pennsylvania in the early 1850’s and “hydrocarbon man” was born. “Eniac” the world’s first programmable digital computer was invented in 1945, (coincidentally in Pennsylvania) and the digital age began.  Now, here we are at the threshold of the 21st century. The electronic age we all live and work in, with all of the revolutionary technological advancements, is nothing short of a modern-day miracle.

The product you are about to view is the combination of these amazing milestones and the result of 20+ years of petroleum and petrochemical marketing, trading, risk management and brokerage experience. It is where the digital internet world, with all of it’s efficiency and opportunity, meets with the business of energy trading and supply.

By now, you are surely aware of the benefits and efficiencies of an electronic world. The technology improvements, controls, cost savings and increases in productivity are well documented. Although this is not the first product you have seen, used or heard about, we hope that it is the most practical and useful to you, the trader. This system is intended exclusively as a third party trading forum for price discovery controlled by and designed specifically for energy traders and supply managers. We provide the platform with the necessary controls and the business is driven by our loyal group of user-traders. Read-only access will be available to registered members who wish initially to view-only. This will allow HostEnergy.com a vehicle to develop the international markets - potentially a very promising digital application.

HostEnergy was crafted by an energy trader turned broker in collaboration with a highly respected team of technicians and programmers from CYNET INTERACTIVE, a leading Houston based computer firm.  It utilizes ADC2000^TM - a proprietary software engine designed for speed and security. After the initial construction of the database and core operating system, it was up to the trader and broker to determine how we could compete with other systems. The answer was obvious: marry the conventional phone brokering with the digital on-line system. We can now offer our clients a full-service complete with industry experienced professionals available, as brokers, on a “read-only” basis in each of the four different trading areas. This will achieve the goal of giving human support to the system.

The purpose for this system is to provide a neutral, fair and true marketplace for energy price discovery. It was built to optimize simplicity, effectiveness, security and ease of use for the typical oil industry professional.

From the beginning of the project, there were two fundamental goals for HostEnergy.  First, to provide traders with an extra tool in their chest in the quest to increase profitability and efficiency. Secondly, allow company management to benefit from the instant information, access and controls which are inherent in the system.

Finally, this system is not meant to replace the human side of our business but to complement it. The more efficient and productive a trader or supply representative is, the more focused and valuable he or she is to their organization.

Even though HostEnergy has been thoroughly tested internally as well as externally with select industry focus groups, we have no illusions that the product will be perfect from the beginning. Accordingly, we are committed to improving our product, through your feedback, using the multitude of new enhancements, add-ons and tie-ins available in the industry.
